When I woke up in the morning to hail, rain and absolutely no sunshine, I pulled the covers over my head and went back to sleep for an hour before I had the courage to reluctantly peek out again. Oh Melbourne, you trickster! By the time my car arrived in Flemington the clouds parted to a gorgeous hot day that was more tropical than my imagined setting of Frozen. Derby Day for me is a time to catch up with friends when we all look classy because, let’s face it, everyone looks amazingly pulled together in black and white.
